Documentary Photography
I am a documentary photographer from Nepal working at the intersection of gender, indigenous knowledge systems, and community resilience.
I am deeply interested in ecofeminist visual inquiry as a method of storytelling and advocacy. My work explores stories and seeks to integrate into public discourse creating spaces where photography becomes a tool for reflection, dialogue and collective imagining.

Exhibits and Publication
Echoes in the Valley- Nepal
The body of work Subdued Song of Chaa was presented as part of the Echoes in the Valley Festival held in Madhyapur Thimi, a historic Newari town renowned for its pottery tradition. The open-air exhibition was installed within the built fabric and narrow alleys actively used by Kumal pottery craftspeople, situating the work directly within the living landscape of the community it represents.

ASAP Art
Subdued Song of Chaā explores the representation of women and indigenous knowledge in a new light, for those outside Thimi, and more importantly, for residents of Thimi themselves. Shrestha’s work not only documents the space women are trying to make for themselves in pottery but also highlights the loss of indigenous knowledge as the practice of pottery is substantially reduced.
